Freedom to move. Power to thrive.
Up & Rolling was founded to help find a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) through awareness, research funding, and support for families affected by the disease. We believe every person deserves the chance to experience the joys of life—whether it’s hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying the outdoors. Our mission is to break down barriers and provide the modifications and resources needed to get people up and rolling, doing what they love.
In July of 2017, when our daughter Riley was just four months old, our world changed with the words Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1. We didn’t know exactly what the road ahead would look like, but we did know one thing for certain: we would do whatever it took to give her the best life possible.
Riley has never been able to walk or stand, which has made life on the farm more challenging in many ways. But challenge has never stopped us—we’ve worked hard to make our home and our lives accessible, so Riley can be part of everything we do as a family.
In August of 2020, we were blessed with our son, Shep. Like his sister, he was also diagnosed with SMA. But in just a few short years, treatments had advanced, and because Shep was able to begin therapy early, his symptoms are far less severe than Riley’s.
Through all of this, we’ve learned to see the blessings in the middle of the trials. God has given us strength, perspective, and joy, even on the hardest days. SMA is part of our story, but it doesn’t define us—it has only made our family stronger, more resilient, and more determined to live fully each day.
In the uncertainty of Riley’s initial diagnosis, I remember looking at Aaron and saying, “If we can’t help her, I want to be able to help the next person.”
By God’s grace, we have been blessed to help Riley thrive, but that promise has never left our hearts. Now, it’s our mission to carry it forward—to help the next person, the next family, the next child facing challenges like ours.
Our dream is to help others live beyond their limits. We want to give people with disabilities the opportunity to experience life in ways that aren’t always easily accessible—whether that’s through adventure, community, or simply the chance to do something they’ve always dreamed of.

Your generous donations enable us to continue our mission of helping those in need. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Join us in making a positive impact in the community.
